I truly feel like we should be at the mid-year mark in school,but I guess we are only about a fourth of the
way into it, huh?
Well,
I'd love to know how many of you are doing!
It seems that we have finally found a routine that works
for us...
just in time for it all to change because of
a VERY busy basketball season quickly approaching.
And I also have those days that I don't think I can go
any further in homeschooling.
Not that I don't like it or am not willing to
give it my all...
it is just really difficult on days when my kiddos
are so whiney about it all.
And then there's my 3 year old who demands attention
almost constantly.
It's exhausting.
But, thankfully we do have some really good
days that keep me going.
And I also have a WONDERFUL homeschool
mentor (Martha) who is ALWAYS there
for me when I need encouragement.
Seriously everyone,
if you don't have a Martha of your own,
you need to find one!
Plus my sweet husband is VERY
supportive and listens intently when I
bring him my concerns and complaints, which somehow
always leaves me a little refreshed.
So,
I guess for us...at least for now,
we are holding our own and pressing on!

We got 3 good months in before we head to china, in 2 days! Hopefully we will be able to get another month done once we get back but before Christmas break. I really don't want to be doing school all summer.

oh, so wishing I could say we are trucking along so well. lol BUT with stomach bug and flu, and a wedding. . . adoption paperwork, and mommys 6 week online class. . .well, it has been sporadic. I will probably be schooling year round. lol

We hear our year tick-tocking away - for 2010 brings the graduation for Emily. How that happened, I have no clue.
You know, we all do so much more than ANY public school can do in one year. To think that I used to think that public schools went through an entire text in a year - silly me :o)
Homeschooler's ROCK. My husband is a public school teacher - trust me, we ROCK!!!!
We are all so blessed to have the rights to teach our own kids - that gives me pause each day - how blessed are we for that right!!
ummmm..half way?? NO WAY! Oh how I wish...we just finished up our first grading period last week. So we are only a little more than 1/4th of the way through. I too so have those days where I am ready to throw in the towel but I usually don't start feeling that way until February. We have put Sophie in a 3 day a week 4k program and I cannot tell you how much that has helped the older 3 stay focused. Sophie loves the little school she goes to so it is a win-win for all!!!

We have 1 MONTH to go--and I will be graduating Kristen and Jake WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! The 4 & 5 year olds are not getting much done though. Concentrating on getting those big kids out the door! When we get Wes home (January?) we will really focus on little people school....and what fun we will have!
We just got back from China and I feel sooooo behind. I feel like the first part of this school year has been extremely useless. Of course, I know that I am probably wrong...it just feels like we are not into a good routine yet.
Hopefully now that Ashlyn is home and there is no more adoption "stuff" we can really concentrate on a new normal for our family.
I am thinking January will get us back on track, since we only have about three and a half weeks left in 2009 of school. (We take off for Thanksgiving and Christmas.)
We are actually doing really good but we have our days where my student comes to school not really wanting to learn- it happens when it is new concept (usually Math). I think she is afraid of failing and then language issues pop up. We somehow keep going but there can be quite a few pouts.
The good news is her comprehension is improving!! (but we are still at a very low level just getting into sonlight P4/5 from P3/4).
Anna has been a bigger challenge lately- I think she is bored and I am giving her less attention that usual.
MY NEW THOUGHT- how on earth am I going to teach all 4 girls at the same time? I will do it- just not sure how? I thinkin God has a plan!
We actually will be schooling year round with breaks of course! With Sarah and the new girls I need to keep a schedule or who knows what will happen!
